Honeywell is presenting its latest digital solutions that will play a key role in enabling the rapid recovery and future growth in the retail, logistics and healthcare sectors at Gitex 2021.The event is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 17 to 21.

In addition to helping them withstand potential future uncertainties, Honeywell’s solutions do present opportunities for the three sectors to optimise operations as well as build resilience and efficiency through technologies that advance their digitalisation journey.

“Industries that have been challenged by the economic impact of the pandemic are rebuilding with a focus on resilience. This is creating opportunities for optimisation and efficiency while furthering the digitalisation of the sectors, which we are enabling through Honeywell’s advanced technologies,” said Roman Poludnev, general manager for Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions Middle East, Russia, Turkey and Africa.

“The last 18 months have shed important light on where inefficiencies and technology gaps are, while also highlighting new trends in consumer behaviour.  We’re demonstrating some of the technologies for key sectors such as healthcare and retail at Gitex this year, which will have a significant impact in making them future-ready.”

Although lockdowns around the world have abated, the retail industry learned a lesson to shift towards a remote and online-enabled operation to ensure resilience. This has resulted in a surge for e-commerce orders and applied additional pressures on businesses to deliver quick and reliable services across larger geographic areas.

Meanwhile, back-end support from warehouses and supply chains are also facing higher expectations of performance and capacity, driven mainly by the retail sector . With potential challenges related to manpower and social distancing, systems need to be increasingly optimised and intelligent to ensure seamless distribution, while catering to the unexpected rise in demand growth in some countries.

Separately, the healthcare industry is going through a massive transformation, dominated by digitalisation, whereby emerging technologies are shaping the future of operations in the sector. Healthcare systems around the world are operating in new dynamics, where capacity and workforce distribution had to be reconsidered due to the pressures of Covid-19, whether in terms of patient care, testing or more recently, the administration of vaccines.

In response to the continued recovery and demand for increased efficiency and resilience across the retail, logistics and healthcare sectors, Honeywell is showcasing a portfolio of next-generation technology at Gitex 2021, which includes:

Retail solutions: Honeywell is demonstrating the key role of automatic information data collection solutions in the retail supply chain for fulfilling growing e-commerce demands: The company has developed a range of solutions including handheld mobile computers, voice directed work and other productivity solutions enabling mobile workers to efficiently execute tasks and access business-critical data.

Logistics solutions: Honeywell is displaying its comprehensive solution for entire supply chain that ensures products and packages are trackable and traceable throughout the chain – a critical requirement when it comes to products such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines and for the food and tobacco industries.

Track and Trace is a software solution that provides real-time visibility and reporting of products within a vehicle, a container, a pallet or a packaging box at the micro-level, enabling users to track products throughout the supply chain.

Healthcare solutions: Honeywell is showing how its healthcare technologies enhance operations and automate patient data entry through a mobile communication platform and optical character recognition scanners.

A collaboration between Honeywell’s Auto Identification business and the Nursecall system, the company developed several tools for nurse communication, which improves communication between nurses and patients remotely and enhances patient care efficiency.

Connected Safety Solutions: Honeywell offers smart wearable technology that keeps workers safe on the jobsite, improves productivity and ensures compliance with processes and regulations. At the event, integrated safety solutions are on display, which combine fixed, portable, and smart wearable and threat detection monitors as well as worker status and location information.

The deployment of innovative solutions that integrate various wearable personal and fixed environmental monitoring technologies can help prevent an incident before it occurs. Honeywell is also showcasing technology that enables key safety and productivity benefits of having real-time connectivity while minimising the expense, distraction and safety risks associated with a mobile phone.
