Hertz, a leading car rental company in the UAE, announced that it has welcomed the first batch of Toyota Camry hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to its fleet.
The Al-Futtaim company is also considering converting 30 per cent of its fleet into HEV over the next three years, by adding the newest hybrid models from Toyota, Lexus, Volvo and Jeep.
This landmark move will help both residents and tourists not only save fuel and money but also have a more positive impact on the environment.
Nigel Johnson, managing director of Hertz UAE, said: “Hertz is the first car rental company to provide UAE residents with the opportunity to rent a Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicle.”
“We noticed that the demand for green rental cars has been increasing in the past two years, as customers started understanding the financial and environmental benefits of hybrid electric cars. With considerable reduction in fuel consumption, allowing our customers to enjoy further cost efficiencies from this outstanding value proposition,” he added.
Toyota Camry HEV runs for 26KM/L compared to its petrol engine variant at 14.6KM/L, registering a staggering 78 per cent enhanced fuel efficiency and 53 per cent less CO2 emissions. The class-leading model provides a comfortable and stable ride with superior handling characteristics and is fitted with the latest hybrid technology, switching between electric and engine power depending on driving conditions and demand, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
