Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is developing a water treatment plant that will produce steam for its thermal-based enhanced oil recovery (EOR) as well as for the treatment of hyper saline water to boiler feed. It will be located in Qarn Alam in northern Oman.
The water treatment plant will save aquifer water for future purposes as well as minimize deep water disposal and safeguarding a regular and reliable supply of steam to support oil production. Treatment of hyper saline water to specifications usable by PDO will provide a sustainable solution to aquifer abstraction. PDO is expected to increase the capacity of the treatment plant of 25,000 cu m. per day of produced water to the treatment of up to 60,000 cu m. per day of produced water.

Sep 2017 | PDO has issued tenders inviting companies to submit their bids for being the technology provider and for the EPC contract. Bid submission deadline is on 7th November. |
